About Simon

Simon Donnelly grew up on the edge of Kelsall, trained as a chemist, and once worked at a mineral works beside the River Weaver in Winsford. This taught him that most of the universe runs on salt, tea and somebody saying "that'll do".

He now lives in Sandbach, where he writes comic novels, mostly early in the morning and mostly about Cheshire. He also runs Run Adventurer, a channel of walks and runs, which is how he knows exactly how far it is from the pub to the canal, and why it is further on the way back.

His books go out as free weekly podcasts first, then as paperbacks, and then into the hands of people who were about to buy Uncle Harold socks.

He has never been contacted by the intelligence services. Or if he has, he is not allowed to say.

Letters, questions, pie recommendations and reports of badgers in unusual places are all welcome at . He reads everything, eventually.

Emails offering marketing, SEO, a guaranteed first page on Google or the moon on a stick are printed out, folded into small hats and given to the badger, who has never once been impressed. The senders are invited, with the greatest respect, to bugger off.

He is not the footballer Simon Donnelly. That Simon Donnelly is considerably better at football. This one is better at pies, and at being mistaken for the other one.
