Best Human
Ken took in a stray collie. The collie took in Ken. Only one of them is from round here.

The opening of Chapter One
Best Human, read aloud, with the words on screen for anyone who likes to follow along, or is watching in a library. About 2 minutes, which is roughly one kettle.
About the book
Ken Hulme is a retired driving instructor in Frodsham. He spent a career telling people to check their mirrors, and most of the years since his divorce not trusting anyone. Then a border collie turns up: damp, polite and suspiciously well informed.
There are walkies. There are long talks on the sofa. There is the matter of what came down near Helsby Hill. It is a book about trust, about dogs, and about the things a man will only say out loud to something with four legs.
It will make you laugh. If you have ever told a dog something you could not tell a person, it may also do something to your eyes. We accept no responsibility. It is out now as a free weekly podcast, too.
Where it is set. Frodsham and Helsby Hill, Cheshire. The places are real, so you can go and stand in them. The people are made up, so please don't go looking for them.
